DATICAN Holds Hackathon 3.0 at the University of Ibadan

DATICAN Hackathon 3.0, a week-long event held from November 3rd to 10th, 2024, at the prestigious Faculty of Science, University of Ibadan, proved to be a resounding success. This initiative, part of DATICAN's commitment to training MSc, PhD students, and junior faculty members, provided a platform for knowledge sharing, skill development, and networking.

The event commenced with a stimulating opening ceremony, graced by the esteemed Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba (FNPA), representing the Vice Chancellor. His inspiring speech set the tone for the week ahead, emphasizing the importance of research and innovation.

A highlight of the Hackathon was a captivating lecture delivered by Professor Aribisala. The renowned academic delved into the intricacies of writing impactful research papers, providing practical tips and illustrating key principles with real-world examples.
Participants had the opportunity to showcase their research work through presentations. A panel of distinguished experts, including Professor Ogunde, Professor Osunade, Professor Oladejo, Dr. Mba, Dr. Sakpere, and Dr. Adebola Ojo, provided invaluable feedback, guiding participants in refining their research and writing skills.

To foster a competitive spirit and recognize exceptional achievements, a competition was held. The awards were presented to the following individuals: Amore Oluwaseun from Redeemer's University won the best model and abstract, Oyekunle Isaac from Redeemer's University won the best poster, Akintayo John from Lagos State University won the best PhD progress, and Dr. Hanat Raji-Lawal from Lagos State University won the best Faculty progress.
The Hackathon brought together a diverse group of attendees from Lagos State University, University of Ibadan, and Redeemer's University. This interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and experiences enriched the overall learning experience.

By the end of the week, participants had gained a deeper understanding of research methodologies, writing techniques, and presentation skills. The Hackathon 3.0 program was instrumental in empowering the next generation of researchers and academics, ensuring a bright future for scientific inquiry and innovation.
